Sv. Nikola Tournament: Bringing Together Badminton Enthusiasts in Split

On December 7, 2024, the vibrant city of Split hosted the Sv. Nikola Tournament, a thrilling event that brought together 103 badminton enthusiasts from eight clubs: BK Split, BK Zadar, BK Iader, BK Škrok, BK Herc, BK Brežice, BK Dišpet, and BK Pomak. The tournament featured competitions in three categories: A, C, and D.

BK Split led the participation with 65 members, followed by BK Škrok with 15 members. Despite having a smaller contingent, BK Zadar’s players delivered remarkable performances, securing several podium finishes. Here are the highlights of their achievements:

  • WS A+B: Petra Maričić (Silver), Ana Grginović (Bronze)
  • WS D: Vanessa Feydel (Gold), Franka Antolić (Silver), Marijeta Vidučić (Bronze)
  • MD D: Edis Sinovčić and Branimir Vrkić (Silver)
  • WD D: Franka Antolić and Marijeta Vidučić (Gold)

The tournament saw a total of 192 matches played throughout the day, starting at 8:30 AM and concluding at 7:00 PM. Every player from Badminton Zadar managed to overcome their initial nerves and secure a place on the podium in one category or another, showcasing their talent and determination.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the organizers ( Badmintonski Klub Split) for their impeccable planning and execution. The provision of food at the court was much appreciated, keeping the players and spectators energized throughout the day. The post-tournament gathering and the distribution of medals added a special touch to the event, fostering a sense of community and celebration.

As a club, we are grateful to all the participants who made the tournament an exciting day. The spirit of sportsmanship and the determination to give their best in competition were truly inspiring. Special credit goes to all the players who showed immense courage and skill.
